These cups depict Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms—two enduring symbols of Japan—using Nagoya-style glass-bead overglaze decoration, a traditional technique known as glass mori. Fine glass particles are applied over the painted designs and fired at approximately 800°C. As the surface catches the light, the glass creates a delicate sparkle, subtle dimension, and softly textured color. From the Meiji era onward, Nagoya overglaze decoration transformed white ceramic bodies produced in Seto into richly ornamented pieces that captivated overseas markets. Committed to preserving this traditional craft for future generations, we continues to create pieces using the glass-mori technique today. Its elegant footed form and fine gold rim beautifully complement the shimmering motifs of Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms.
