The “Seto-Gura Museum,” Chronicling the History of Seto Pottery
The Seto-Gura Museum, which adjoins the “Seto-Gura” tourist facility, is a museum dedicated to Seto pottery. It features the many coal kilns and wooden workshops that existed in Seto long ago, and includes exhibitions on the tools used along with the scenery of the cityscape at the time, allowing visitors to experience the more than 1,000-year history of Seto.
There are also exhibitions on the restoration of Owari-Seto Station, which served as a hub for large amounts of shipments during the Showa period, and the transformation in tools throughout the first half of the 20th century that advanced production opportunities. Themed exhibitions on kilns currently in use are periodically held as well.
